McBastards

I think when companies put advertisements in movies it is a pretty effective marketing strategy. I usually wont buy a product if its not healthy or if it doesn't seem good for me. I try not to buy a lot of name brand products but of course everyone has to have Oreos and Heinz ketchup. I have considered the generic alternative and actually did buy the generic brands for a little while but it's really just not the same. Celebrity advertisements don't sway me because they get paid to do those commercials, so they could care less about that product. Yes catchy jingles get stuck in my head very easily (Meow Mix and $5 foot long).

In this picture, there is a Big Mac box opened up and a hand looking as if it was typing on a laptop. Followed by "Free Wi-Fi served at all restaurants" hovering above the hand. In the ad McDonalds is saying that they're keeping up with technology, and that they put wi-fi in for your convenience. To me this ad is saying McDonalds is catering to more technological people, bringing in a higher social class and maybe keeping them there longer since they are on their laptops.Plus they have computers that need wi-fi and they have so much money I don't think they're going out of their way that much to make this ad true.

  1. I agree, restaurants use the fact that our society revolves so heavily on technology now that they can use that to their advantages, like even pizza places now like Pizza Hut and Papa John's you can just go online and place an order without even picking up the phone to call in.

  2. It's so true about how restaurants are now trying to bring in the higher class with the free wi-fi. It normally does make them stay longer, which could make them spend even more money.

  3. I thought that was a very insightful way of looking at this ad. They are definitely trying to give McDonalds a different look to cater to different people.

  4. This is a good way to look at the ad. Obviously, Mcdonad's is drawing consumers in intially and giving them reason to stay longer, therefore purchasing more food.
